What is Configuration management? 

 Is it just the IT cofiguration?  

Configuration is at the heart of any significant project, as it touches every project aspect.  Its setup and management are crucial to a projects end to end operations, product/delivery quality, safety, legislative compliance and financial wellbeing. The Configuration Manager is typically one of the least appreciated people in any project but is best thought of as the “Central Nervous System controller”. 

Correctly done Configuration is invisible, but if ignored makes the task markedly harder.

Gaddon can provide CM analysis needs, tool selection, tool setup, training, process setup and ongoing support for your end to end configuration needs.  These may be simple Excel Sheets for very basic projects.  Further, Excel is an ideal way to back capture complex data if your current CM is below PAR, wherein it can be used to feed sophisticated Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Tools.  The key to CM data collation is knowing how to structure  the data for PLM integration

Perhaps the best analogy to explain configuration is that it is rather like your appendix, you do not think about it and are barley aware of its existence, but use it all the time.  However, if configuration is not done well; or at all, it is like getting appendicitis, not only agonising but potentially fatal.
